My Flip UltraHD has been giving me issues. The battery life is horrible and one of the two stereo mics keeps cutting out during recording witch turns out to be rather annoying. I've heard many others have similar issues so they seem to be fairly common problems. The Sony Bloggie Touch Mobile HD Snap camera is similar to the Flip UltraHD in that it's a small pocket video recorder with 8GB of built in memory but it has many advantages over the Flip UltraHD. First of all it has a non-fixed lens with auto focus so you can film close up objects with greater detail. It also has a wider lens so you can fit more objects or people in the frame. It records 1080p and 720p at 60FPS, neither of witch the Flip UltraHD can do. The touch screen is also much bigger than the screen on the Flip UltraHD. It has the same 8GB of internal storage yet it can record 4hrs of video at 720p/30FPS compared to only 2hrs on the Flip so it must have better video compression. The battery life is also much better and so far the microphone has shown no signs clipping or crackling. They also placed the microphone up top so when you're behind the camera talking it's just as loud and clear as when you're in front. I've looked at many pocket video recorders from Flip, JVC, Creative and Kodak. They almost all have fixed lenses with no auto-focus systems.
