'Novo Profusio Gaudio' - English anon. 13th century, Medieval Christmas Carol. Performed by Daniel Mantey - Music All Sorts; alto and tenor recorders. A Medieval English 'macaronic' Christmas Carol! Macaronic? No, not macaroni, but perhaps a similar etymology? A 'macaronic' song is one in which many languages are used together; rather hodge-podge if you will? This carol uses Latin, French, and English for each verse: in fact each line, in that order, with the fourth line again in Latin. The Choruses (Burdens, as they were then called!) are all in Latin. To save all the confusion, I use two recorders! I do apologize, I am using two Baroque recorders (as pictured in the video) to play a Medieval piece, and we are not entirely sure they might have had a tenor recorder this early, though certainly an alto might have been around (we are always guessing!)? But the sound is right on, and the Pythagorian tuning just as they would have done. What a wonderful composition! Beautiful counterpoint, and such dynamic, complex rhythms!!! The main melody is the one on the bottom. From my WInter CD.

In this video I so you how to do pretty much what the title says. My method, strange as it may seem DOES work, and is less damaging than using cotton swabs/cue tips. But you do have to take the top off your VCR to do this. Please note that this does not cover cleaning the audio/sync/erase heads, just the video heads on the head drum.

In 1970 Tutti Camarata produced an album "Tutti's Trombones" intended to exploit to the utmost the "great unexplored possibilities of the trombone". Picking some of the finest session and jazz trombone players in the United States the album became (at least for my generation) the gold standard of trombone playing and an iconic recording. Recorded at Camarata's own Sunset Sound Recorders studio in Hollywood, California he produced, arranged and conducted all the tracks and utilised state of the art recording equipment to achieve an absolutely superb landmark album. Track 1 (The Sweetest Sounds) was arranged to feature soloists Frank Rosolino, Tommy Pederson and Lloyd Ulyate. The album was re-mastered and re-released on CD in 1983 by Bainbridge Entertainment Co. (from which this recording is taken) based in Van Nuys, California. No copyright is claimed for this recording and no violation of ownership intended. The original LP is really difficult to find but I believe there are a few copies of the 1983 CD still available. Try to get one as the quality is superb and you'll never tire of listening to it! I contradict myself at least once in this video. I said the menu system was way too complex, but then by the end I said it was easy to use. Well, it is way too complex, but if you go through the tutorial, you can learn enough to use it quickly enough. The H4 can also be used as an audio interface card for your computer so that you can record directly to your computer, but that probably isn't that good an option because USB interfaces usually introduce some latency. The latency is fixed, however, so adjusting for it is not difficult.

'Chocolate Dream' - Daniel Mantey, April 2006. Performed by Daniel Mantey - Music All Sorts; 2 alto recorders, 2 pardessus viols, & bass viola da gamba. Yes, another of my own. Written in the wake of Valentine's Day (as I was savoring a delicious chunk of dark chocolate) for a wedding of a Japanese cousin-in-law! And originally just as a recorder quartet with the opening Pavane section. The piece went through some changes: it was originally for sopranino, 2 soprano, and alto recorders (for the wedding), and then expanded to a quintet (with a second sopranino added), and a Galliard section added on. At the wedding, it was intended for my family to play, so the 3 lower parts are VERY simple, but SIMPLY beautiful (if I may say so?). The top part (and later parts) were very much on the trickier side with a very healthy amount of high 'f's and 'g's (on sopraninos!)! It was fun to write and fun to play. For my first studio version the piece was expanded to 10 recorders, the five high recorders joined by a low quintet of 2 altos, 2 tenors, and bass with the two choruses alternating and joining for each section. That version (in 2 versions) was on my first several CDs. But last year (2010) I wanted something completely different, and re-set the piece for 2 alto recorders, and the 3 viols, as you have it here. I like both versions, but this one is certainly more dark and bitter, and closer to 100%! I find it a very satisfactory composition, much like a good bite of my favorite ...

This is my trustable hi-fi stereo cassette deck recorder / player, that I purchased brand new in 1982. It still is in perfect conditions and works fine. It has Dolby B NR and accepts Chrome (CrO2) type tapes for extend response. I recorded the audio directly from the cassette deck player's output to the line input of my digital recorder. Here I was demonstrating some old hits tapes that I recorded from vinyl LPs. The warm sound of magnetic tapes is unbeatable.

Wellenformen werden kristallklaren, großen (240 X 128) Display dargestellt. Die integrierte Chop Shop 2.0 Funktion kann nun für Stereosamples eingesetzt werden. In der MPC5000 ist es zudem erstmals möglich, Samples zufällig und ausgewählte Samplezonen wiederholt abzuspielen. Zusätzlich existiert ein Turntable Preamp zum direkten Anschluss von Plattenspielern. Dank des integrierten virtuell-analogen Synthesizers werden externe analoge Synthmodule nicht mehr benötigt.
