In 1970 Tutti Camarata produced an album "Tutti's Trombones" intended to exploit to the utmost the "great unexplored possibilities of the trombone". Picking some of the finest session and jazz trombone players in the United States the album became (at least for my generation) the gold standard of trombone playing and an iconic recording. Recorded at Camarata's own Sunset Sound Recorders studio in Hollywood, California he produced, arranged and conducted all the tracks and utilised state of the art recording equipment to achieve an absolutely superb landmark album. Track 1 (The Sweetest Sounds) was arranged to feature soloists Frank Rosolino, Tommy Pederson and Lloyd Ulyate. The album was re-mastered and re-released on CD in 1983 by Bainbridge Entertainment Co. (from which this recording is taken) based in Van Nuys, California. No copyright is claimed for this recording and no violation of ownership intended. The original LP is really difficult to find but I believe there are a few copies of the 1983 CD still available. Try to get one as the quality is superb and you'll never tire of listening to it!
